Take five candy recipe8/7/2023 ![]() ![]() Peanut butter would be delicious, but would also make this toffee a sticky mess. Instead of peanut butter, I used melted peanut butter chips. Instead of caramel, I used English toffee. My Take 5 toffee is based off of those 5 basic ingredients. Have you ever had one? I’m assuming you found your way to this recipe because you like them, but if not, here you go.Ī Take 5 candy bar is made out of pretzels, peanut butter, peanuts, caramel, and chocolate. Many are intimidated by making English toffee from scratch, but you really shouldn’t be. I make batches and batches of English toffee during the holiday season. If you’ve been here for a minute, you already know how much I love making toffee. A fun spin on traditional English toffee. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.Take 5 Toffee! If you like the candy bar, you’ll love this toffee! Pretzels, peanuts, toffee, milk chocolate and peanut butter. Garnish with crushed pretzels, if desired. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and again chill for at least 30 minutes. Repeat with all of the peanut butter-pretzel balls. Let any extra chocolate drip off and place back on the wax paper-lined sheet. Working one at a time, dip one peanut butter-pretzel ball into the melted chocolate and use a fork to roll it around, ensuring that it is completely coated with chocolate. When ready to dip the truffles, microwave the chocolate and vegetable shortening together in a small bowl in 15-second increments, stirring after each, until completely melted and smooth. Place the baking sheet into the freezer to chill for 30 minutes ( if your freezer is too small, refrigerate for 1 hour). Place the ball on the wax paper-lined cookie sheet and repeat with the remaining peanut butter mixture. Using a small cookie scoop, or about 2 teaspoons worth of peanut butter mixture, gently shape into a ball with your fingertips. Line a small baking sheet with wax paper. Add the pretzel bits to the peanut butter mixture and mix thoroughly - I use my hands! Stir until all of the ingredients are completely blended and smooth. In a small bowl, combine the peanut butter, butter, brown sugar, salt, and powdered sugar. Put pretzels into a resealable plastic bag and crush into very small bits ( a rolling pin works great for this). ( makes 18-25 truffles, depending on the size of your balls)ģ.5-4 ounces milk chocolate ( I broke up a 3.5 ounce bar of Cadbury's Milk Chocolate)ģ.5-4 ounces dark chocolate ( I broke up a 3.5 ounce bar of Cadbury's Dark Chocolate)ġ tbsp. *This recipe was adapted from Brown Eyed Baker's version Ingredients: But don't tell that to your main squeeze!
